Flying cheaply: our tips

  • Book early and be flexible: fares with Ryanair and Wizz Air vary a great deal. Midweek and outside the school holidays it is usually cheaper.
  • Sort out your luggage beforehand: the basic fare usually only includes one small piece of hand luggage. Suitcases, skis or a bike are cheaper to book online than at the desk.
  • Travel with hand luggage only: that works well with us. Bed linen, towels and a fully equipped kitchen come with every holiday apartment.
  • Plan flights and accommodation together: in the off-season you will find particularly good-value dates with us – more on this under cheap holidays in the Allgäu and, for spontaneous travellers, under last minute.

From there the regional express train takes you via Kempten to Immenstadt and on to Sonthofen and Oberstdorf. Depending on connections, the journey to Immenstadt takes around an hour and a half. Tip: if you book a Deutsche Bahn ticket to “Memmingen Allgäu Airport”, the shuttle is already included. By long-distance coach or taxi

On selected days FlixBus runs directly from the terminal to Oberstdorf – the current travel days are listed with FlixBus. Taxis wait right outside the terminal; for the journey to the Oberallgäu it is best to ask for a fixed price in advance.

Alternatives: Munich, Friedrichshafen, Zurich

If your connection does not fly to Memmingen, three other airports are worth considering. From Munich Airport, with its many long-haul flights, it is around two hours by car to Immenstadt. From Lake Constance Airport Friedrichshafen the drive takes just over an hour. You can also travel via Zurich, then on to the Allgäu via Lake Constance and Lindau.

Arrive whenever suits you

Flights do not always land on time, and some low-cost flights only arrive late in the evening. With us that is no problem: you check yourself in with an access code, which is sent to your phone in advance. Nobody has to wait for you, and if you have any questions you can reach us around the clock.

The quickest to reach from the airport are our apartments in Immenstadt, close to the Großer Alpsee and with a railway station in town – ideal if you are coming without a car. If you would rather stay right by the big mountains, you will find our holiday apartments in Sonthofen, Blaichach and Oberstdorf. You can compare all apartments in the overview.
